The University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC), established in 1966, is a public research university. Over the years, the University of Maryland Baltimore County has witnessed many outstanding personalities who achieved great heights in their respective careers. Some of the great alumni of UMBC are Tim Finin – author, conference organizer, winner of the 2009 IEEE Technical Achievement award. Ramachandra S. Hosmane – organic chemist with over 150 peer-reviewed research publications in international journals. Fred Worden – filmmaker involved in experimental cinema since the 1970s.
