Established over 160 years ago, the oldest of its kind in Britain, London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art is a drama school located in Hammersmith, London. Programs in acting and directing courses with a specialization in production and technical arts courses and a whole range of short courses, LAMDA is a world-leading higher education provider. They offer exceptional vocational training to actors, stage managers, technicians, directors, and designers. The conservatoire believes drama is a collaborative art form and the training stresses the importance of collaboration to achieve excellence. They offer an inventive environment for artistic development and strive for excellence in the development and assessment of their examinations.   

Campus Life

LAMDA only moved to Hammersmith in West London in the year 2003 as it acquired the old premises of the Royal Ballet School. They developed the campus with new training facilities with three theatres named Sainsbury Theatre, the Carne Studio Theatre, and the Linbury Studio, and various rehearsal spaces and meeting rooms. Benedict Cumberbatch has taken up the position as LAMDA President in the year 2018. The academy’s graduates however work regularly in the theatres of London’s West End and Hollywood. The University also allows students and actors to work on their craft through an intensive exploration of classic plays.

Some of the finest talents across the world who have contributed to the cinematography have been products of LAMDA. Some of them are Richard Armitage, Colin Baker, Benedict Cumberbatch, Brian Cox, Sam Claffin, Kim Cattral, Lee Ingleby, Richard Harris, Dominic Cooper, and the list goes on.
