Established in 1833, Haverford College is an undergraduate college focused on liberal arts subjects. They are known for their academic rigor, honor code, and beautiful campus. The college serves about 1353 students, of which more than 50 percent of the students receive a college grant. The faculty have the highest degree in their respective field, and the low student-teacher ratio of 9:1 ensures each student gets the needed attention from experts. The students are encouraged to learn from being active participants in the class and involving in the professor’s research. There are 675 courses offered on-campus in fields like economics, creative writing, astronomy, biochemistry, English, film studies, geology, mathematics, museum studies, physics, statistics, and many more. Due to the academic partnerships with other institutes, the students can take classes for a few subjects with the partner college and university. 

Campus Life

Haverford College has its campus set just outside Philadelphia spread over 200 acres of land with over 50 buildings with award-winning architecture, an arboretum with 400 species of trees and shrubs, a duck pond, and more. The students have a very active and engaging life inside and outside of the classroom where they can engage in governing the honor code, serve in hiring committees, manage budgets and participate in more than 140 clubs and organizations that are available. The Lutnick Library has a global catalog of collections that can be accessed online as well. The athletic facilities include a soccer field, tennis court, squash court, outdoor field and track, basketball and volleyball indoor courts, cricket ground, fitness center, and more. The students get to experience culture and diversity as 42% of the students identify as people of color.

The graduates proudly call themselves Ford and the alumni association helps in networking with other alumni, post, and view job opportunities, and providing industry advice to students. Some notable graduates include co-founder of MKB Partners, Michael Kim, former co-chairman of Goldman Sachs John C. Whitehead, Nobel Prize Winner George Smith, and Nobel Peace Prize winner Philip Noel-Baker among many more.
